How You Can Help ...
Readings for the Blind is funded through the generous contributions of clients, individual donors, private organizations and charitable foundations. Our organization does not receive any state or federal funding and the minimal fees we charge for services do not cover the costs of recording materials.
With a dismal funding climate across the United States, and particularly within the State of Michigan, we ask our supporters to remember that every dollar helps! As a 501c3 tax-exempt organization, your donations are tax deductible.
Donations:
Make a gift in your own name, or in the name of someone you want to honor.
-
A memorial gift may be given in honor of an individual who has passed away. We will send a memorial card to the family of the deceased that does not specify the amount of the gift. We will also send an acknowledgement to you for tax purposes.
-
A tribute gift is an opportunity to acknowledge a special occasion for a friend, family member or colleague. We will mark the occasion by sending a card to the person you designate that announces the gift but not the amount. We will also send an acknowledgement to you for tax purposes.
To make a donation, please print out our contribution form and mail it to us with your check or money order. Please keep in mind Readings for the Blind also accepts gifts of stock or real estate, as well as, in-kind donations appropriate to our work.
Our Partners:
Readings for the Blind works with several organizations in an attempt to make giving easy for our supporters. Please click on our “Partners” page to see each of the organizations we have aligned with to help us complete our mission.
Leave a Legacy – Planned Giving:
Planned giving is a way for you to make a significant difference toward the continuing work of Readings for the Blind.
-
By Will: You may choose a flat dollar amount or a percentage. For example: “I hereby give, devise and bequeath five thousand ($5,000) dollars to Readings for the Blind at 29350 Southfield Road, Southfield, MI 48073.”, or, “I hereby give, devise and bequeath ten percent (10%) of my residuary estate to Readings for the Blind at 29350 Southfield Road, Southfield, MI 48073.”
-
By Living Trust: The growing use of trusts in our society has created another opportunity for planned charitable giving. Whether you need a living trust depends on your situation and the property you own. It may be worth your time to consult your financial advisor.
-
By Charitable Trust: In order to leave a legacy, ensure the future for your heirs and support a charitable organization, a charitable remainder trust may be created. The benefits are twofold – a charitable trust pays you an annual income with an immediate tax deduction. Please consult your financial advisor.
There are various ways to realize your charitable intentions and reduce gift taxes. Consult your financial advisor or attorney and please keep Readings for the Blind in mind when preparing your estate plan.
